Unified Communications Technician (Old Standard)

Apprenticeship Overview     

A level 3 apprenticeship, for individuals who will be setting up and maintaining communications systems under supervision and installing communication hardware and software.  

Their primary role is to establish and maintain communications systems using a range of remote and physical tools and equipment, installing basic communication hardware and software. They will deal with routine service requests from internal and external sources, including fault rectification across a range of technologies, applying security principals in line with legal and organisational requirements.  

This role will require the individual to work alone or as part of a team, and could be office based, field-based, or in remote sites as required 

Funding     

Typical duration to gateway (i.e. excluding EPA period):  24 months    

Maximum funding: £15000  

Entry Criteria   

Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include 5 GCSEs; other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills. 

EPA Gateway    

There are no mandated knowledge modules or professional vendor certification for this Apprenticeship Standard. Although you may want to utilise professional vendor certification that has been mapped to the knowledge components listed in the Apprenticeship Standard, you will not be able to use apprenticeship funding to pay for the certification.     

All Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours will be assessed in the End-point Assessment by reviewing the evidence submitted in the Summative Portfolio, Employer Reference and Synoptic Project and then discussed during the Professional Discussion.  

Working with Employer’s and Training Provider’s we have created realistic and flexible work-related Synoptic Projects.    

These allow the Unified Communications Technician apprentices to utilise the real-work skills and knowledge and designed to support the demonstration the key Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours assessed during the End-point Assessment.
