This qualification prepares professionals for roles in organisations of all sizes across public, private and voluntary sectors where computer and communications systems are critical to operations. Information Communications Technicians deliver efficient operation and control of IT and/or telecommunications infrastructure, supporting internal and external customers by troubleshooting routine and non-routine problems. They install and configure systems, diagnose hardware and software faults, and resolve technical issues either remotely or in person, while monitoring system performance and maintaining regulatory standards.

Assessment method 1: Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio
A 60-minute two-way discussion underpinned by the portfolio, which involves both the independent assessor and the apprentice actively listening and participating in a formal conversation.
Assessment method 2: Project report with questioning
A 1,500-word project designed to meet the needs of the business, delivering real business benefit, submitted within 4 weeks of the EPA start date. There will also be a questioning session based on the project with an independent assessor which will last 30 minutes.
Grading
Grades awarded are fail, pass, merit, or distinction.
